Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday expressed optimism that the future US Ambassador to Georgia would lead the Embassy to serve the Trump administration, rather than the deep state, contrasting it with the actions of previous ambassadors.
His comments came in response to a journalist's question about cynical statements by domestic protest participants regarding Charlie Kirk's assassination and the US State Department's reaction to the issue.
The Prime Minister voiced hope for a shift in the Embassy's orientation once the new Ambassador is appointed.
“We will see how the Embassy ultimately takes shape. Today, no Ambassador has been appointed, so there is a certain degree of uncertainty at the Embassy. I hope that once the Ambassador is appointed, the Embassy will ultimately serve the Trump administration and not the deep state, as former ambassadors have done in recent years”, he concluded.
