Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday condemned the assassination of the American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, describing it as a “direct and unequivocal result of rhetoric rooted in hatred, cancel culture, and intolerance”.
“Words may have grave consequences, and unthoughtful support for hateful rhetoric may reverberate in unpredictable ways. Our numerous calls and warnings to some foreign officials to abstain from supporting violent language, ostensibly in the name of European Union, liberalism, and democracy, is directed towards forestalling such unpredictably tragic events in Georgia too”, the Speaker said.
