Levan Machavariani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday described German Ambassador Peter Fischer as having “become a radical activist” in response to a post Fischer published on social media.
In his remarks, Machavariani spoke about the Ambassador’s attempts to interfere in Georgia’s internal affairs.
“We clearly remember how he attended court hearings to exert pressure on judges. The interpreter was not even physically beside him. We remember how he posed with banners reading ‘slave’, the photos he shared with the so-called extremist groups, and how he encouraged their violence. We have not forgotten that Mr. Fischer is associated with Mamuka Khazaradze - whether he is financially involved, I still do not know”, he said.
“I would expect Mr. Fischer and the representatives he consulted with to take an interest in the fact that, if I am not mistaken, the deaths of 17 opposition leaders were recorded in Germany within a short pre-election period. It would be better for them to focus on their own affairs”, Machavariani concluded.
Fischer recently posted a photo on social media with Germany’s State Minister for European Affairs, Günter Krichbaum, noting that the German Government fully supports him in his role as Ambassador.
