Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday condemned recent incidents outside the ruling party’s election headquarters in the capital city, stating that no one had the right to obstruct the electoral process or attack campaign offices.
In his remarks, Kaladze stressed that violent actions by certain groups were not new.
“This is not the first instance of such violent behaviour by this group. Yesterday, the public once again clearly saw what these people represent and what their main goal is. It is very regrettable, but the people of our country will give an appropriate response to such actions. Regarding the damage to campaign banners, everything must be addressed within the framework of the law. No one has the right to interfere in the election process or storm campaign headquarters. The Georgian Dream campaign office has not gone to anyone, has not disturbed anyone, and has not obstructed anyone in the electoral process”, the official said.
Kaladze also condemned bullying and physical harassment of journalists during rallies, noting that such incidents have occurred repeatedly in the past.
“This is not the first case. Recall previous violent rallies - each time there was bullying, insults, and even physical attacks on media representatives, which is a very serious matter”, he concluded.
