Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday commented on the statements made by the German Ambassador Peter Fischer regarding the Georgian Government, noting that the Ambassador was directly interfering in the country’s internal political affairs, further fueling division within society.
In his remarks, Kaladze claimed that referring to the German Ambassador as an ambassador may be somewhat offensive to other countries’ representatives and embassies.
“As for the German ambassador, calling this person an ambassador might even be insulting to other diplomats and embassies. He is no longer acting as an ambassador. This individual has gone far beyond diplomatic relations and red lines. He is directly engaged in domestic political issues, encouraging confrontation and extremism to divide society”, he said.
The Mayor further recalled the 2024 parliamentary elections, alleging that certain foreign diplomats, including Ambassador Fischer, had taken an active role in influencing the process.
“Let us also recall the parliamentary elections, the statements and calls that were made, and how they were directly involved in the election campaign. The Georgian people gave these so-called diplomats, who are hostile to Georgians, an appropriate response - they were defeated in the parliamentary elections”, Kaladze concluded.
