Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday said that groups supported by the German Ambassador once again attacked the Tbilisi election headquarters of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
In a social media message, Papuashvili stated that this was the third such incident, claiming that the attackers used fascist slogans during their assault.
He emphasised that during an election campaign, the support of extremists and a foreign ambassador’s failure to condemn acts of violence represents not only an example of interference in Georgia’s elections but also a violation of the Vienna Convention.
“Activists, supported by the German Ambassador, attacked the Tbilisi election headquarters of the Georgian Dream [party] for the third time today, shouting fascist slogans. During the election campaign, the support for extremists and a foreign ambassador’s failure to condemn violence is an example of gross interference in the elections, in violation of the Vienna Convention”, the Speaker said.
