Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Saturday condemned a recent attack on the Tbilisi election headquarters of the ruling Georgian Dream party, attributing the violence to an extremist group supported by Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to the country.
In a social media message, Papuashvili criticised the Ambassador for failing to denounce the actions by the activists of the United National Movement.
“Yesterday, the extremist group supported by the German Ambassador once again attacked the Tbilisi election headquarters of the Georgian Dream party and the people present there”, he said.
The Speaker expressed frustration over the lack of condemnation from the German Ambassador.
“Yesterday, we once again witnessed the hatred and violence of the shameless activists of the United National Movement, and once again heard their screams aimed at dehumanising people. Today, we still have not heard the German Ambassador condemn the violence of the group he supports”, he concluded.
