Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said the electoral alliance between Giorgi Gakharia’s party and Lelo for Georgia does not have candidates capable of competing with those nominated by the ruling Georgian Dream party.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that not only the quality of candidates but also the political course of these parties was crucial.
“The Georgian Dream [party] will win in every district and municipality with both mayoral and city council candidates. This confidence comes from the support and attitude we feel every day from the people of our country. There simply are no individuals who can compete with our candidates. However, the most important factor remains the policies these parties stand for”, the ruling party official said.
He also criticised what he described as externally influenced political forces, stressing that such parties have no place in Georgia’s political landscape.
“We know very well how and from where these people are managed. It is impossible to succeed in Georgian politics while serving foreign interests, acting as an agent, and being controlled from outside - even if that means going against your own country and your own people. That is unacceptable, and such politicians or parties have no place in Georgia’s political field”, Kaladze concluded.
