As part of an ongoing investigation into sabotage, attempted sabotage under aggravated circumstances, assistance to foreign-controlled organisations in hostile activities, and the mobilization of funds against Georgia’s constitutional order and national security, several leaders of non-governmental organisations have been summoned for questioning at the General Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the individuals were called in as witnesses.
“Within the framework of this criminal case, in order to clarify circumstances significant to the investigation, certain NGO leaders have been summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia for questioning as witnesses”, the statement said.
The investigation has established that in 2024, both leaders of opposition political parties and representatives of certain foundations and NGOs actively participated in planning and organizing violent protests held in front of the Parliament and at various locations across the country.
These findings, along with other evidence gathered, served as the basis for freezing the bank accounts of 12 legal entities - including foundations and NGOs - thereby preventing the further misuse of financial resources.
