David Matikashvili, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, on Tuesday claimed the main theme guiding the domestic radical opposition was “hatred towards their own country and steps taken against Georgia”.
Matikashvili’s comments came in response to a reported action plan prepared by the Director of Programs at the International Republican Institute (IRI) for the Georgian opposition, which outlines steps for political unrest.
In his remarks, the official noted that any action that was going beyond the boundaries of the law would face a strict response from the state.
“Radicalism cannot win in Georgia; this is absolutely excluded. Any attempts to go beyond the framework of the Constitution, to shift the situation onto criminal or illegal tracks, will be strictly addressed by the state”, Matikashvili concluded.
