Giorgi Kakhiani, the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday accused the domestic radical opposition of following a foreign-designed action plan aimed at destabilisation.
Kakhiani’s comments came in response to a reported action plan prepared by the Director of Programs at the International Republican Institute (IRI) for the Georgian opposition, which outlines steps for political unrest.
In his remarks, Kakhiani noted that the opposition’s ultimate objective was to spark a revolution.
“Take for example Salome Samadashvili’s [the opposition leader] statement, where she has already begun discussing potential restrictions on visa liberalisation. We also heard opposition political groups announce their plans for protest rallies. This is exactly the scenario outlined in the action plan, and the radical opposition is strictly following it. Beyond revolutionary methods, no other alternatives exist in their agenda”, Kakhiani said.
