Georgia has secured the 38th place worldwide in the Well-Functioning Government Index, published within the Positive Peace 2024 Report.
The Index, developed by the Institute for Economics and Peace, highlights Georgia’s governance as one of the strongest globally, ranking it ahead of 10 European Union and NATO member states.
According to the report, Georgia ranks first in the Caucasus and Black Sea region and also outperforms all current EU candidate countries.
The nation’s placement surpasses those of Italy, Romania, Hungary, Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, and Turkey.
Across Europe, the countries leading the index are Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, and Sweden. At the bottom of the regional ranking are Belarus, Russia, Bosnia, Ukraine, and Moldova, indicating significant gaps in governance quality across the continent.
The index relies on data and assessments from respected global institutions, including the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and other internationally recognized organizations. This methodology ensures that the rankings reflect a comprehensive and credible evaluation of governmental effectiveness worldwide.
