Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday announced that his Government would present Mamuka Mdinaradze’s candidacy for the position of Head of the State Security Service to the Parliament of Georgia.
The PM highlighted Mdinaradze's extensive professional experience in law enforcement agencies, which makes him a strong candidate for the leadership role.
“As for the nomination of the Head of the State Security Service, the procedure envisages that the Government presents a candidate to Parliament once the information about the termination of the previous Head’s authority is formally acknowledged. In line with this procedure, we will nominate Mr. Mamuka Mdinaradze [the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party]. He hardly needs a special introduction - he has many years of experience working in law enforcement agencies, which is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of this important position”, the PM said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted recent achievements in the fight against crime.
“Over the past few months, we have seen significant progress in combating crime, including corruption, drug-related offenses, and organized crime. Despite these impressive results, further effort is needed to fully address the challenges facing our country. In this regard, Mamuka Mdinaradze, as Head of the Security Service, can make a serious contribution”, he noted.
Kobakhidze expressed confidence that Mdinaradze would have the firm trust of Parliament and wished him success in his new role.
