Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said that all studies were indicating that Georgia was a highly developed country, and the Government's ambitious goal was to make these specific results even more striking and to move further up in the rankings.
Kadagishvili commented on the European Commission’s recently published Strong Institutions Index, according to which Georgia scored 63% under the 100% evaluation system, ranking 34th globally. In terms of institutional strength, Georgia surpasses all EU membership candidate countries, as well as 13 EU and NATO member states.
“The latest research also shows that state institutions are stable and strong. What does the sustainability and strength of state institutions mean? It means that the country maintains stability, human rights are protected, the crime situation is under control, and many social programs are being implemented in healthcare and education”, the official said.
“The economy is developing, people’s lives and the country’s economic situation are improving. This is exactly what strong state institutions mean. It also means a low level of corruption and Georgia’s global leadership in transparency. These are concrete results, but our ambitious goal is to make them even more visible and to rank even higher in these rankings”, Kadagishvili concluded.
