In his remarks, Kavelashvili emphasised that Turkey-Georgia relations were at their highest level, underpinned by mutual respect and cooperation across various domains.
“First and foremost, I would like to begin with gratitude. The Turkish side - the President of Turkey and today the Speaker of the National Assembly - organised high-level meetings for the Georgian delegation and the Georgian President, and I want to express my great thanks to them for arranging this. We touched upon almost every topic. Yesterday, we had a high-level meeting with the President of Turkey. First and foremost, it is worth emphasising, and it is important for our society, that today my belief has been further strengthened that our relations, built on mutual trust and respect between Turkey and Georgia, will develop and continue even further”, the President said.
During the visit, Kavelashvili held discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş.
The President further noted that the talks covered a wide range of topics, with a focus on political perspectives and regional peace.
“We discussed all topics. The main topic is political perspectives, the fact that both countries are highly interested in peaceful progress in the region. You know that Turkey was one of the initiators, right at the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, to mediate in the reconciliation process. We, too, have consistently participated, for example, in the Azerbaijan-Armenia issue, and everyone welcomes the fact that this process is nearing completion, and the relations between Turkey and Armenia are yielding positive results. Turkey-Georgia relations are at one of their highest levels”, he concluded.
