Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to becoming the most prepared EU candidate country by 2030, dismissing claims by the Danish Foreign Minister that Georgia had halted its European integration progress as “absolutely false”.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze outlined the country’s ambitious goal and ongoing efforts to align with EU standards.
“We can once again confidently state that, amongst candidate countries, Georgia will be the most prepared for EU membership by 2030. A lot is being done for this, including the implementation of economic reforms. Over the past four years, we have increased the economic gap between Georgia and, for example, Moldova by more than $11 billion”, the PM said.
He further emphasised his Government’s dedication to implementing reforms to meet EU accession requirements.
“All these steps and reforms are aimed at ensuring that Georgia becomes a member of the European Union. I will reiterate that by 2030, amongst candidate countries, Georgia will be the most prepared for EU membership”, he concluded.
