Opposition Lelo party leader breaks silence, admits to four years of tax evasion on German income

After four days of silence on the scandalous affair, Mamuka Khazaradze’s confession turned out to be no less scandalous. The opposition Lelo party leader confirmed that he had been concealing German funds from the state budget for nearly four years and avoiding tax payments, citing a “technical misunderstanding” as the reason.
“Last week, we ourselves identified a tax-related issue stemming from a misunderstanding regarding source-based taxation. Following our inquiry, the relevant registration was completed at the tax office, and the full amount was paid to the state budget - thus, the matter has been fully resolved”, Khazaradze said in a social media message.
Meanwhile, the German Ambassador has yet to respond to questions regarding the rental arrangement - including how much is being paid for the luxury residence owned by the opposition leader, whether the lease was legally executed, and how the agreement was reached.
