After a highly successful summer tourist season, hospitality management company McInerney Hospitality International is predicting a strong autumn for Georgia’s tourism sector. According to Maia Tsereteli, the company's Vice President, hotels in both Tbilisi and Batumi experienced very high occupancy rates throughout the summer months.
Tsereteli noted that August occupancy rates were currently over 90%, with some hotels reaching 100% capacity on certain days.
She highlighted that this trend was not limited to Batumi’s coastal resorts but was also seen in Tbilisi, where various events contributed to several days of fully booked hotels across the capital in July.
Batumi is experiencing a similar situation, with some dates already fully booked in advance for August.
“We had days in July when not just the hotels we manage, but hotels across all of Tbilisi were 100% full. The same situation is happening in Batumi for August, with some dates already at 100% capacity”, she said.
Tsereteli also provided insight into the origin of foreign tourists, explaining that the majority of visitors continue to come from Asia and the Middle East. However, she noted a noticeable increase in guests from Eastern Europe and the United Kingdom, broadening the geographic scope of Georgia's tourism market.
Looking ahead, Tsereteli expressed optimism for the upcoming season.
“There's high demand for Tbilisi in the autumn in terms of reservations. We are therefore expecting a great autumn”, she concluded.
