Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, on Tuesday claimed individuals who were not aligning with the deep state were inevitably branded as pro-Russian.
Gorduladze’s remarks came in response to the statement of the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, alleging the former United States President Barack Obama administration promoted a contrived narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections.
In his remarks, Gorduladze noted that the labeling of individuals as pro-Russian was part of an externally driven political agenda aimed at discrediting dissenting voices.
“The practice of labeling people originates from foreign instructions. This campaign targets not only members of the Georgian Dream and the Georgian public but is taking place globally. Anyone who does not comply with the deep state’s directives is immediately branded as pro-Russian, and it’s all done in a coordinated manner”, the official said.
“It is a proven fact when the head of US intelligence admits that these operations were directed by the deep state within the US, carried out by a former President. This should make us all consider the extent of the deep state's power. Anyone who doesn’t serve its interests is automatically labeled pro-Russian”, he concluded.
