Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday welcomed the latest GORBI public opinion poll results, highlighting that 62 percent of Georgian citizens trust the country’s legislature - a result he says affirms the legitimacy and performance of the 11th convocation.
“The people support the legislative reforms the Parliament has been implementing over the past several months. Our goal is to act in line with the mandate granted to us by the people”, the Speaker said.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that this trust further served as a message to Brussels to respect democratic decisions rooted in public will.
“This trust is another reminder to Brussels that it must respect core European values - the democratic process of decision-making, the will of the people, and legislation adopted based on the people’s mandate. Without this, the European Union cannot truly represent Europe”, Papuashvili concluded.
