Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday asserted that the “interest in a second front” amid the ongoing war in Ukraine had not disappeared and, moreover, “the interest in prolonging the war has become very clear today”.
In his interview with Rustavi 2 TV channel, Kobakhidze noted that no one should be surprised that the pressure on Georgia continued, as the deep state’s interest was to prolong the war as much as possible, and “one of the good ways to prolong the war is to open a second front in Georgia”.
“Apart from Trump, no one is trying to end the war. On the contrary, if you look at the rhetoric of European politicians, I mean the majority, this rhetoric is entirely aimed at prolonging the war. War rhetoric is directly conducted through European politicians. This is very clearly visible. The interest of the deep state is to prolong the war as much as possible. One of the good ways to prolong the war is to open a second front in Georgia”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze further elaborated on the deep state theory, suggesting that opening a second front in Georgia, while destructive for the country, would be “very profitable” for this entity.
“Despite the fact that we are a small nation and it will be difficult for us to resist for a long time, the second front will create problems for Russia. [...]. Therefore, the interest in the second front has not disappeared anywhere, moreover, today the interest in prolonging the war has become very clear, the majority of European politicians are talking about this. No one should be surprised that the pressure on Georgia continues. Until the interest in war disappears, this pressure will definitely exist”, he concluded.
