Georgian Dream party's Political Council issues statement on “Global War Party”, EU pressure

The Political Council of the ruling Georgian Dream party on Friday released a statement, addressing recent political developments.

“Over the past few weeks the completely baseless attacks on Georgia by the European bureaucracy have become so widespread that, as a political team accountable to the Georgian people and responsible for peace and stability in our country, we consider ourselves obliged to explain to the public in detail the hidden political undercurrents that are not visible on the surface in the hostile campaign against Georgia. The public well remembers that the completely unfair attitude towards the government elected by our country and the Georgian people coincides with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The previous US administration, Biden himself, Secretary of State Blinken, former Ambassador Degnan and other high-ranking officials constantly attacked Georgia, completely absurdly, without facts, accusing us of collusion with Russia and violating the strategic partnership written on paper. While Georgia did everything possible to politically support Ukraine, joined hundreds of resolutions, co-sponsored the issue of investigating war crimes, provided shelter to Ukrainian refugees, helped the war-torn country with humanitarian supplies and faithfully observed the standards of evasion of sanctions. The conclusion on the last issue was written by the sanctions coordinator Mr. O'Brien, who came straight from America, and also expressed gratitude to our country.

Against this backdrop we publicly opened the discussion and asked a rhetorical question: what did Georgia do that made us constantly blackmailed?! Our political team and the Georgian society soon gave the answer to this question themselves: we did not get involved in the war, we did not open the second front against Russia in the country, therefore the then administration, headed by the global war party, the Deep State, decided to punish Georgia. The very fact of Georgia's participation in hostilities went beyond behind-the-scenes hints and backstage hints shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine, when specific high-ranking Ukrainian officials directly demanded that Georgia open a second front. Danilov, Podolyak, Goncharenko and others directly spoke about the need for a second front in our country.

The failure to comply with the instructions of the Global War Party and the opening of a second front would bring problems to the Georgian government was initially clearly stated in the rhetoric of the Biden administration, and then they moved to action, began to impose unreasonable sanctions, demonstratively, for reasons still unknown, canceled the strategic partnership agreement signed with Georgia, and finally, the founder and honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili was also accused of collusion with Russia without any basis, without facts, and imposed sanctions against him.

In turn, this blackmail and pressure had a simple goal - the "Party of the Global War" through the Biden administration had to convince the Georgian people of the government's departure from the western course, and then again, by the hands of the Georgian people, introduce an agent government into the country, which, literally, the next day, would drag the country into war.

In response, Georgian society took a worthy step, fully realizing that it was the government that saved the country from collapse and the devastating consequences of the war, and therefore gave our political team even greater legitimacy in the 2024 elections. On their part, precisely in the light of the responsibility to the Georgian society, we have adequately handled the externally financed revolutionary processes after the elections, preserving peace and economic progress in the country, which is clearly confirmed by studies published by international institutions.
Unfortunately, it must be said frankly that today the same and even stronger pressure on the Georgian government from the European bureaucracy continues. It is no secret that the "Global War Party" fully coordinates the actions of the European bureaucracy and carries out increased blackmail against our country. The goal here is the same - to somehow set society against the government, with the help of the Georgian people to remove from power by any means our political team, which is "not beneficial" to the "Party of Global War" for opening a second front against Russia, and in return bring to power the structure headed by it. Unlike us, the radical opposition is ready to carry out any task from the outside, including the main one - to drag the country into war.

All provocative steps taken by the European bureaucracy led by the “Global War Party” against Georgia are aimed at changing the government and supporting the opposition. In just the last few weeks the European Parliament has adopted the seventh resolution against our country and people in support of the radical opposition; the foreign ministers have published a joint letter threatening to suspend visa-free travel; Three discussions on the Georgian issue took place in Brussels, where the introduction of sanctions and the abolition of the free trade regime were discussed; Finally, the European Commission sent a letter and set conditions to the government, including the abolition of the laws on transparency and protection of family values, otherwise threatening to cancel the visa-free regime. A logical question arises: what can a law on transparency or protection of family values have in common with the liberalization of the visa regime? Obviously, these two issues are not related to each other, but the European bureaucracy, coordinated by the Global War Party, is trying to find at least some basis for its blackmail and pressure.

Today, it is already obvious that the need for Georgia to participate in the Russian-Ukrainian war has not only weakened, but also strengthened, and to achieve this goal, as we have already noted, the party of the global war uses the structures of the European Union and individual officials. It is necessary to clearly state to the public once again that the desire to open a second front in Georgia is so great that the party of the global war has rebuilt the entire European bureaucracy in the mode of attacking Georgia, and as a lever it considers the cancellation of the visa-free regime as the last remaining trump card. Those who want to drag our country into the war think that the cancellation of the visa-free regime with the European Union, even on a fictitious basis, will lead to such a level of discontent in society that it will eventually end in the overthrow of the government and the installation of an agent at the helm of the country.
As for the threat of war, it doesn't take a deep analysis to see that this threat has not gone anywhere. The Global War Party is doing everything it can to hang the Ukrainian issue on Europe's neck from beginning to end, thereby trying to catch two birds with one stone - to destroy both Europe and Russia at the same time. In this regard, the need to open a second front in Georgia is as urgent as it was at the beginning of the war. Moreover, perhaps this question became even more fundamental for the global war party. Today, the military rhetoric from the leaders of the EU member states is so intense that the military confrontation not only does not seem to have ended, but everything possible is being done to prolong it. Maximum armament of Ukraine, supplies of long-range weapons, tightening of sanctions against Russia, statements of retired generals about preparations for war with Russia in the near future - all this clearly demonstrates the plan of the global war party, to continue and intensify the Russian-Ukrainian war at the expense of Europe, processes that are associated with the weakening of Europe on the one hand and Russia on the other, of course, these processes will end with such an outcome. It is also worth emphasizing the decision of the EU member states, according to which 5% of GDP will be spent on weapons in the future, which exceeds 15% of the budget of these countries.

This step, dictated by the Global War Party, turns European countries into militaristic countries, which on the one hand further increases the dangers of military escalation on the continent, and on the other hand, increasing military spending will further aggravate the economic situation and social background of the European Union. In these difficult conditions we must be extremely careful so that society does not succumb to the blackmail and provocations of the European bureaucracy and does not take a step that threatens the unconditional destruction of our country.

As for the role of the United States in the current processes, of course, the attitude of the current administration towards Georgia has changed dramatically, and the unfair attitude inherited from the previous administration and continuing to an even greater extent towards our country by official Brussels has been stopped. We have repeatedly stated and once again confirm that we wish President Trump success in the fight against the Deep State. However, we also have a well-founded suspicion that this struggle may end not with the defeat of the Deep State, but with its rebranding, the goal of which may be to side with the United States and drag Europe into the Russian-Ukrainian war with all its might, and ultimately destroy both Europe and Russia at the same time. Time will tell, however, for the sake of justice, it should be noted that the current administration has not done anything to correct the mistakes of its predecessor in relation to Georgia, the unjustly imposed sanctions are still in effect, and our openly stated desire to start relations with a clean slate remains unanswered. We once again express our sincere desire that President Trump will fulfill one of his main campaign promises and destroy the Deep State, otherwise the same global war party will destroy not only America, as Donald Trump himself noted, but also Europe”, the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
