Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday addressed the current role of the United States in Georgia-related developments, highlighting the fact that the current US administration’s attitude toward Georgia had drastically changed, and the unfair approach pursued by the previous administration had been halted.
In his remarks on behalf of the ruling Georgian Dream party's Political Council, Kobakhidze further noted that, for fairness, the current US administration had likewise done nothing so far to correct its predecessor’s mistakes regarding Georgia.
“We have repeatedly said, and again affirmed, that we wish President Trump success in his fight against the deep state. However, there are reasonable doubts that this fight could end not in defeating the deep state but rather in its rebranding, which could aim to sideline the US and fully drag Europe into the Russia-Ukraine war, ultimately weakening both”, the PM said.
“Time will tell, but for fairness’ sake, it must again be noted that the current administration has taken no steps to correct its predecessor’s mistakes. Unjust sanctions remain in force, and our openly stated willingness to restart relations from a clean slate remains unanswered”, he continued.
Kobakhidze concluded by expressing the sincere hope that President Trump fulfilled one of his key campaign promises and destroyed the deep state.
“Otherwise, the deep state - the so-called Global War Party - will destroy not only America, as Trump himself warned, but Europe as well”, the PM added.
