Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said Brussels must not become like Soviet Moscow, emphasising the need for substantive arguments in discussions with the European Union.
Kobakhidze’s comment followed a letter sent by the European Commission to Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, outlining eight recommendations Georgia must fulfil to retain its visa-free travel with the EU.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze highlighted the critical importance to Georgia of laws concerning family values, the protection of minors’ interests, and transparency. These legislative priorities, he noted, are central to his Government’s agenda.
“We have a very clear answer for Brussels on all points. When it comes to prisoners, we have a very clear answer that each of these prisoners committed a specific crime. Let us start talking about this. Let them substantiate if they have any legal questions regarding any case. Of course, such questions do not exist, therefore these are empty political ultimatums, which is very regrettable”, he said.
