Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said everyone had become “absolutely” convinced that the Georgian Government would not drag the country into a war.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Mdinaradze stressed that “no matter what external pressures arise, the international community is now assured that Georgia's current leadership will not be drawn into military conflict”.
He noted a significant shift in rhetoric, observing that “calls that were previously heard behind the scenes or openly, urging 'go ahead, rush into the Tskhinvali region or Abkhazia', are no longer being heard”.
Mdinaradze recalled a “mocking campaign” against those who genuinely cared for their homeland, where they were taunted with questions like “Do you want war?”
He indicated that such a narrative was no longer on the agenda.
Mdinaradze emphasised the volatile regional situation, referencing conflicts in Syria, Iran, and Ukraine, to illustrate that Georgia is “in a large ring of fire”.
He reiterated that external actors and those in Georgia who “do not think about their own country” view Georgia's involvement in war as a “lifeline” to advance their interests.
Mdinaradze claimed that the only remaining “main trump card” for these external forces is to “use internal unrest, influence our people”, primarily through “intimidating messages and effects related to visa liberalisation”.
