The Political Council of the ruling Georgian Dream party on Sunday released a sharp statement addressing a letter signed by 17 European foreign ministers and the High Representative of the European Union.
The joint statement from the 17 European foreign ministers and the EU High Representative urged the Georgian government to “immediately release unjustly detained politicians, journalists, and activists, repeal repressive legislation, and engage in national dialogue with all relevant parties”.
The ruling party asserted that an “informal governance of the deep state” was deeply rooted in the vast majority of EU countries and Great Britain.
The party claimed the deep state was operating without moral boundaries within the European bureaucracy.
According to the Georgian Dream, the deep state's agenda cannot tolerate the independence and sovereignty of certain nations.
“The only thing that the deep state's agent network cannot forgive Georgia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Serbia is precisely their independence and sovereignty. There is only one principle - either a country is governed by the deep state's agent network, or it becomes a constant target of attacks from European officials”, the statement said.
The party also offered an interpretation of Brexit, suggesting it was orchestrated by the deep state to establish another controlled, separate center serving its global agenda.
“Recent events deepen the reasonable suspicion that at one time, the deep state separated Great Britain from the European Union for a specific purpose. Based on Brexit, a third, separate centre was formed, which serves the realisation of the deep state's global agenda”, the statement noted.
The Georgian Dream party recalled remarks by former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, who, they noted, “emphasised that today Britain is governed precisely by the deep state”.
“We hope that Donald Trump will fulfill his pledge and defeat the deep state, which would also restore sovereignty to European countries. We see that the centre of gravity of the deep state has shifted from the US to Europe. If the deep state is not defeated and merely undergoes rebranding, unfortunately, both the weakening of Europe and the attacks on the Georgian people and Georgian democracy will continue. We wish Donald Trump success in this important endeavour”, the ruling party concluded.
