Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said a number of non-governmental organisations in the country were involved in political processes.
In his responses to journalists' questions regarding the disclosure of funds transferred by the European Commission to non-governmental organisations, Kaladze noted that they were involved in a revolutionary scenario and attempted to stage a coup d'état in the country.
“Of course, what has been happening in the country in recent years and months was encouraged and financed from the outside - from the European Union countries, from various organisations; American organisations were also involved in all of this. The main goal and attempt was a coup d'état, the overthrow of the Government. They sought to do this in various ways, and the implementers of all this were these so-called non-governmental organisations”, Kaladze said.
“Based on their activities, the so-called non-governmental organisations in Georgia are completely devoid of everything that the status and content of a non-governmental organisation generally implies. They are usually involved in political processes, were involved in a revolutionary scenario, and made attempts to organize a coup d'état in the country”, he concluded.
