Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday sharply criticised statements made by MEP Rasa Juknevičienė, dismissing her remarks as “blatant lies” and indicative of a “post-Soviet mentality”.
Kobakhidze’s comment followed a debate in the European Parliament on Georgia, which included a resolution prepared by Juknevičienė. The resolution calls for the immediate release of the imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili, the holding of new parliamentary elections, and the recognition of Salome Zourabichvili's legitimacy as President.
“You know the mentality of this woman. She is stuck in a post-Soviet mentality and therefore easily tells lies. This is an expression of the post-Soviet mentality. The statements of such politicians have no value. You can see how blatant lies this particular post-Soviet politician tells. The public sees and appreciates all this”, the PM said.
