Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Wednesday sharply criticised the recent European Parliament debates on Georgia, asserting that “injustice permeates every word and sentence” used against the country.
Volski’s comments followed a debate in the European Parliament on Georgia, which included a draft resolution prepared by MEP Rasa Juknevičienė. The resolution calls for the immediate release of Mikheil Saakashvili, the holding of new parliamentary elections, and the recognition of Salome Zourabichvili's legitimacy as President.
In his remarks, the Parliament official described the resolution's initiation by the European People's Party as “politically biased”.
He highlighted that a previous EPP-initiated resolution already serves as a “patron and instructor” for the opposition United National Movement.
“Unfortunately, this is the reality we face. The fact is, there's nothing new in this for the public, and injustice permeates every word and sentence used against Georgia”, he noted.
