European Parliament Member Hans Neuhoff on Wednesday said the European Parliament had been discussing for months how in October 2024 Georgians prevented the rise to power of a Government the European Union had envisioned.
In his remarks, Neuhoff noted that the committees and bodies of the European Parliament had been exploring for months how to punish Georgians for this.
“This report [which calls for new elections in Georgia and the release of former President Mikheil Saakashvili] contains a catalog of sins and demands that contradict EU legislation, such as personal sanctions. However, the report says nothing about the fact that the Georgian Government has steered the country away from conflict - a conflict taking place between two blocs. We will not support this report”, Neuhoff said.
