Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday accused David Kezerashvili, the wanted former Minister of Defence of Georgia under the UNM Government, of being a key financial backer of what he terms the “radical opposition” in the country.
Makhashvili's comments came in response to reports that leaders of the United National Movement party, including its Chair, traveled to London to meet with Kezerashvili.
“Kezerashvili is one of the pockets of this radical opposition. On the one hand, they are trying to attract funds (it seems they are running short), and on the other hand, they are trying to go through a scenario - what, how, who can do what, what financial expectations one should have from this person”, the Parliament official said.
“Since he is the main political piggy bank, they are apparently going to agree on the final scenario with him, and in the near future, we should probably expect new plans from this particular wing of the United National Movement”, he concluded.
According to Imedi TV, members of the United National Movement party Petre Tsiskarishvili and Levan Sanikidze have also traveled to meet with Kezerashvili. Gia Baramidze, a member of the UNM, has confirmed the visit of party members to Great Britain.
