Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said that his Government's opponents were “very concerned” by the country's high economic growth, highlighting their failed predictions regarding inflation and the national currency.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze noted that campaigns against the Government's economic policies had not yielded their desired results.
“Our opponents are very concerned about the high economic growth. One expert claimed that we would have double-digit inflation in the country, whereas we have a standard rate in this regard”, the PM said.
The Prime Minister also pointed to inaccurate forecasts about the Georgian Lari.
“They claimed that the Lari exchange rate would reach 3.1 in March, but we have consistently maintained the Lari exchange rate around 2.72”, he continued.
Furthermore, Kobakhidze refuted predictions of negative economic growth.
“They said we would have a minus in economic growth, and so far the indicator is 9.8 percent”, he concluded.
