Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday emphasised the critical importance of economic cooperation with China, Europe, and the United States, stating that his Government would do everything to strengthen the country’s “connectivity function”.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia's historical role as a bridge between East and West, a function he aims to significantly enhance.
“We have historically connected the West and the East, Europe and Asia. In this regard, our role remains very important today as well. However, our main task is to further enhance this role for the benefit of our country. To achieve this, major investments are being made, including in road infrastructure, railways, ports, and airports. Serious steps will continue in this direction to fully utilize the potential our country has”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze noted that his Government must fully realise the corresponding potential and deepen cooperation with these countries.
“In this context, economic cooperation with China is very important, as is partnership with Europe and the United States from an economic standpoint. In all these directions, we will do everything possible to further strengthen our country’s so-called connectivity function”, he concluded.
