Representatives of Georgian diaspora distance themselves from statement issued on behalf of Georgian emigrants to EU Foreign Affairs Council
Politics

Representatives of the Georgian diaspora residing in various countries are publicly distancing themselves from a statement addressed to the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, which was purportedly issued on behalf of Georgian emigrants.
The disavowed statement called for certain measures against the Georgian Government.
In their statement, Georgian emigrants emphasised that the document did not reflect their position and accused its authors of misusing the diaspora’s name for political ends.
They labelled the initiative as politically motivated and warned it could undermine Georgia’s international image and democratic stability.
The counter-statement, rejecting the original, was released by both individuals and several diaspora organizations. These include:
- Diaspora media broadcaster DIASPORA.GE
- Georgian Diaspora Public Center
- Georgia-Greece Friendship Association
- European Union of Charitable Women
- Diaspora organization in Spain - Asociación de la Republica de Georgia e Inmigrantes
- Polish Georgian Diaspora
- Milan Homeland to Carry in Your Heart
