German Ambassador to Georgia: Deep State doesn't exist, not even in US

Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia, on Saturday dismissed the notion of a deep state, asserting in an interview with Radio Free Europe that such a body did not exist even in the United States.
Fischer also rejected the label of “radical” often attached to Georgian opposition figure Elene Khoshtaria.
“The deep state does not exist. It does not exist in the United States either. I do my job in accordance with the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany; I am not here for Georgia’s interests. I have met Ms. Khoshtaria several times, and as far as I can tell, she is not a radical," the Ambassador said.
The ruling Georgian Dream party representatives criticised Fischer’s remarks as interventionist and dismissive of Georgian sovereignty, alleging that the Ambassador had gone beyond his diplomatic mandate.
Meanwhile, opposition allies welcomed Fischer’s support of Khoshtaria, framing it as validation of her nonviolent stance.
