Georgian online media outlet Netgazeti has acknowledged that it disseminated unverified information concerning the participation of the Georgian delegation in the final vote on the Porto Declaration at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The clarification from the OSCE PA confirms that Georgia's delegation did not participate in the final vote.
Earlier, the OSCE PA had issued a press release stating the declaration was adopted unanimously. Furthermore, the Assembly initially informed Netgazeti that “while some members of the Georgian delegation protested the resolution during the main committee debates, after its approval by the committee and inclusion in the Porto Declaration, everyone voted for the declaration as a whole”.
However, the ruling Georgian Dream party denied supporting the declaration. Maya Bitadze, a member of the delegation, specifically told Netgazeti that she voted against it. Following multiple requests for clarification from Netgazeti, the OSCE PA provided a revised statement, confirming that the Georgian Dream party did not participate in the plenary session vote.
“Consequently, neither support nor opposition was directly registered during the vote itself”, Netgazeti reported.
