Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said the Georgian Government was actively utilising international instruments to urge all parties to recognise Georgia's territorial integrity.
In his remarks, Papuashvili emphasised that this effort was an integral part of the country's non-recognition policy concerning its occupied territories.
“As you know, this year, the UN resolution supporting the return of internally displaced persons to the occupied territories - which is essentially a resolution in support of our territorial integrity - received a record number of supporters and co-sponsors”, the Speaker said.
The Speaker further elaborated on Georgia's diplomatic efforts, stating that “we are also trying to use various international forums to ensure that no one deviates from the non-recognition policy. On the contrary, we aim for those who do not recognise these fundamental principles of international law to return to recognising them”.
