Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday claimed certain individuals within the European bureaucracy were unwilling to accept the will of the Georgian people, which he described as being in favour of peace and the country's development
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia's radical opposition within the country similarly rejected the will of the Georgian people, though he dismissed their positions as being of no interest to anyone.
“It's clear and understandable who within the country cannot accept the will of the Georgian people. This is the radical internal opposition, but their positions are of no interest to anyone at all. They are mere puppets, controlled from outside”, the PM said.
“As for external actors, we see that there are people within the European bureaucracy who cannot come to terms with the will of the Georgian people, which is for peace and the country's development. Similarly, there were many bureaucrats in the previous US administration who also could not accept the will of the Georgian people”, he continued.
The Government head expressed hope for changes in the US approach as well as the European bureaucracy.
“II hope there will be certain changes in the direction of the US. We are patiently waiting for all of this. As for the European bureaucracy, significant changes are not particularly visible here. We are in a mode of strategic patience, and we hope that there will be some changes in the European direction as well”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister specifically referenced the recent elections, stating that certain European officials had expressed their will in advance, seemingly opposing the outcome. He cited the example of the European Union Ambassador, who he claimed “directly came out and urged voters to mobilise against the Georgian Dream Government”.
