Daniel Fässler, the Head of the Swiss Delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, on Wednesday said the parliamentary elections in Georgia were perfectly organized, fair, and free from any violations.
In his remarks at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Fässler noted that the parliamentary election results simply did not please many European countries.
“First of all, the Georgian representative informed us that there are no diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia. That is why Switzerland has a protective mandate and maintains the role of diplomatic mediation. That is why we know the current situation in Georgia and their relations with Russia best”, Fässler said.
“Last year, I was there as part of an election observation mission. I would like to remind you once again that when we met at the briefing held on the second day of the elections, no one had any complaints there. We met at the briefing on the second day of the elections and asked ourselves, how did the elections go? We determined that the elections were perfectly organized, fair, there were no violations, but the results of the elections were not pleasant for many European countries. Which was worrying, and therefore I consider this proposal critical”, he concluded.
