When objective measurements and criteria, rather than perceptions, are introduced, the truth becomes clearest, stated on Tuesday Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, commenting on the 2025 Prosperity Index, which places Georgia among the top three nations.
In his remarks, Papuashvili highlighted that Georgia consistently holds a leading position when reports are prepared objectively.
“Attacks from Brussels against Georgia continue to this day. You remember we were not granted [EU membership] candidate status, while Moldova and Ukraine were. Within three months, the European Commission itself published a report, and that report stated that Georgia was a leader compared to Moldova and Ukraine”, the Speaker said.
He further emphasised the dual significance of such research.
“On the one hand, of course, it's important that such studies strengthen our truth. But on the other hand, it also shows us our own truth: that there is a political interest in destabilising Georgia, and the people making such false accusations, their only goal is destabilisation”, he concluded.
The Atlantic Council recently published its 2025 Prosperity Index and a detailed report. The study defines public prosperity not solely by income levels but also by social equality, protection of minority rights, environmental protection, education, and public health.
Notably, Georgia is in the top three for improving public prosperity in the 21st century and ranks first globally in terms of progress achieved since 2012.
