Georgian Parliament official calls on German Ambassador to cease “playing role of radical political opposition”

Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday sharply criticised the German Ambassador's visit to an opposition hunger striker on Rustaveli Avenue, labeling it “political posturing wrapped in the mantle of diplomacy”.

In his remarks, Makhashvili Makhashvili called on the German Ambassador to cease “playing the role of the radical political opposition”.

“This is political posturing wrapped in the mantle of diplomacy. We call on the German Ambassador to stop playing the role of the radical political opposition and to attend to the duties for which he was dispatched”, Makhashvili said.
