The many years of successful cooperation between Georgia and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as well as the opportunities for future partnership to strengthen the country's maritime sector were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.
The meeting focused on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port construction process and its importance for the sustainable economic development of the country, the Government administration said.
Kobakhidze noted that the Georgian Government paid great attention to strengthening the maritime industry.
Dominguez emphasized the success achieved by Georgia in terms of digitization of services, which in his opinion contributed to the significant development of the maritime sector in the country. He further added that Georgia should become an example for other countries in this area.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue close cooperation, including in the direction of promoting the qualification of Georgian seafarers.
