Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said his Government would not tolerate “improper actions” by certain foreign ambassadors, specifically citing a meeting between the German Ambassador and a hunger-striking opposition figure as a violation of the Vienna Convention.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze was asked to comment on the German Ambassador's meeting with Elene Khoshtaria, who is currently on a hunger strike outside the Parliament building. The Prime Minister unequivocally condemned the action.
“In no direction can we be tolerant of the improper actions carried out by specific ambassadors. The violation of the Vienna Convention is unacceptable, and the encouragement of self-harm is also absolutely unacceptable”, the PM said.
He further emphasised that such actions not only breach diplomatic protocols but also promote harmful behaviour.
