Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday alleged that foreign funds were directly being spent to orchestrate a coup in the country.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that calls for toppling the Government had been heard at yesterday’s protest rally in Tbilisi, funded by the European Union.
“The European Union is funding a rally where direct calls for the overthrow of the Government are heard. This is what we are talking about - foreign money is directly being spent to carry out a state coup and overthrow the Government”, he said.
He added a defiant message to those he believes are behind these efforts: “You will not succeed, neither domestically nor from abroad”.
