In his annual address to Parliament, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday criticised what he described as an “unfair approach” from European bureaucracy but reaffirmed his Government's unwavering commitment to the country's European integration path.
In his address, Kobakhidze noted that his Government's declared goal was for Georgia to become a full-fledged member of the European Union by 2030, stressing that the country would be ready for this by that time.
“As for Georgia-EU relations, we are facing very significant challenges. There is an unfair approach from the European bureaucracy, however, we remain in a state of readiness. We are prepared to take every step necessary to support our country’s European integration. We have a declared goal - to become a full-flerdged member of the European Union by 2030. The country will be fully prepared for this by 2030”, the PM said.
“If there is a fair and healthy approach, then of course, nothing will stand in the way of our Euro-integration. We remain calm, in a state of expectation. We are pragmatically continuing our work in this direction. Hopefully, healthy and fair steps will also be taken by the European bureaucracy”, he concluded.
