Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the domestic opposition was completely discredited in the eyes of Georgian citizens.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that at one time, the domestic opposition walked directly through the corridors of European bodies and opposed granting visa liberalisation to Georgia when this decision was made.
“After that, the radical opposition directly lobbied against the [European Union membership] candidate status, against the opening of negotiations, directly hindered the activities of working groups, did not participate in the activities of these groups, etc. This campaign continues, a campaign against the national interests of Georgia, which the public has already made its own assessment of when it appeared at the polling stations on October 26, 2024 and gave a stern response to the radical opposition”, the Prime Minister said.
“The public sees everything and this is the main reason why the opposition is completely discredited in the eyes of the people. Everyone knows that these people are working against the vital national interests of Georgia, they did this from 2003 to 2012, when they were in power, and they are doing this to this day. This campaign has only one basis, which is that they are agents, they do not serve their own country, but serve the relevant foreign entity, this is the fate of an agent, when you are assigned, you must directly confront the national interests of your own country, he concluded.
