Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday thanked the Interior Minister Geka Geladze for the successful special operation by stressing that his Government would be uncompromising against drug related crimes and drug dealers.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasized Geladze's successful work during his premiership and noted that the Government would not give anyone the opportunity to poison youth in the country and would continue to take effective measures to prevent relevant crimes.
“I would like to thank the Georgian Interior Minister for the very successful special operation conducted today. When Mr. Geka Geladze was appointed as an Interior Minister, we agreed that the fight against drug related crime would become one of the top priorities, and as you can see, the Interior Minister is fulfilling this mission very successfully. Less than a month has passed since his appointment as Minister, and during this period, he has managed to seize an unprecedented amount - 300 kg. of heroin. And today, as you know, 18 major drug dealers were detained”, the Prime Minister said.
“The Government will be uncompromising against drug related crimes and drug dealers, we will not give anyone the opportunity to poison our fellow citizens, especially our youth. Accordingly, effective measures will continue to be taken to prevent relevant crimes. Among them, significant changes will be made to the Georgian legislation, regarding which we will share detailed information with you tomorrow”, he concluded.
