Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday responded to recent remarks made by European officials regarding Georgia, stating that the nature of these comments highlighted a deep and evident value crisis within European bureaucracy.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze expressed hope that the situation in Europe would improve and that ongoing economic, democratic, and value-based crises would eventually be overcome.
“The statements being made clearly indicate a severe value crisis that is evident in European bureaucracy. This is, first and foremost, a crisis of values - everything else comes after that”, the PM said.
“We have strong hopes that the situation in Europe will change for the better, and that both the economic and democratic, as well as the value-related crises, will be resolved. Our aspiration remains to become a full member of the European Union by 2030”, he continued.
When asked about visa-free travel to the EU, the Prime Minister emphasized that any form of blackmail must come to an end.
“We maintain appropriate communication with all partners. Blackmail must stop - this is our clear message to everyone”, he concluded.
