Georgian Justice Minister Paata Salia on Friday said the European Parliament resolution was absolutely devoid of information and feeling about what was happening in the country, what happened in reality.
Salia’s response followed the resolution presented in the European Parliament calling on the government to release people convicted in Georgia.
“It is a resolution of many times that is absolutely devoid of information and feeling about what is happening in Georgia, what happened in reality, why these people are imprisoned. When the European Parliament still calls for the release of [imprisoned former President] Mikheil Saakashvili today, everything is clear”, Salia said.
“This is a lobby supporting and representing one political party in the European Parliament. It has no power, no influence, first of all, on our citizens, on the voters of the Georgian Dream. Citizens see where the truth is. When such resolutions come from such a high tribune, it damages their reputation first of all”, he concluded.
