Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, on Monday said the representatives of the radical opposition were constantly attempting to incite hatred and even encourage the gravest crimes in society.
In his remarks, Ionatamishvili noted that this hatred was funded by external forces.
“If we look at their nature, in the past they did not just express a desire to kill people - they actually killed people directly in the streets”, the Parliament official said.
An image circulating on social media has further fueled the debate. The photo, reportedly taken inside the Iranian state broadcaster’s studio, shows portraits of high-ranking Iranian officials who were killed by Israel.
According to members of the parliamentary majority, opposition propagandists are using such visuals to openly encourage acts of murder.
